A Word of Encouragement - First Church of the Living God – Pastor Jesse White

Pastor White

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.  Eph 2:8-10

This passage was written to the people of Ephesus in order to exhort them that they too were citizens of the same Abrahamic Covenant blessing of Israel.  It is an interesting and blessed dialogue that he has with the people by letter to encourage them and eradicate any doubt that the God of all creation had them on His mind.  Undoubtedly also in His heart from before the foundation of the world, and has fulfilled His purpose in them through Jesus the Christ, the Son of the Living God.  The Apostle Paul speaks to this generation as well. This letter is also to all those who were not by birth Israelites, but of other nationalities and thought perhaps that God just might not have included us in His divine plan to succeed and finish well in this journey called life.

In the very first part of this letter we are told that “we have all spiritual blessings in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus”.  If we are in Christ, there is no privilege that we are not exposed to in this life or in the life to come. The Word of the Lord tells us that all things that are seen were created by those things that cannot be seen so we are also privy to those things that we cannot see and may call upon those things that are not as though they were.  We may do this in order to accomplish any goal that we can ask for or think of.  The Apostle Paul tells us in verses 2:8 of Ephesians that all this is acquired by the ‘GRACE OF GOD’.

The word Grace means ‘unmerited favor’; in other words favor received that is undeserved.  The favor that was granted to the people of Ephesus was a substitution for the death of Jesus Christ and was payment for their sins; therefore entitling them with access to all spiritual blessings.  Paul says that this is a gift from God and not something that anybody works for.  Jesus said to those who were following Him to ‘ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be open’.  All anyone needs to do is ask and the Grace of God may be applied to your life.  It is a wonderful principle that God has afforded mankind, the gift of Grace.  I like to call this principle ‘The Grace Factor’. Just think, where would man be if it wasn’t for THE GRACE FACTOR?  I encourage all men to ask God for the Grace that brings salvation, for the Grace that brings access to spiritual gifting, for the Grace that brings benefits, and experience the power of God’s presence in your life.  Be assured that He will answer and satisfy.
